ABOUT SAVANNAHS

A Savannah is a cat that was created from breeding a SERVAL (African Wild Cat) and a domestic cat such as an Egyptian Mau, Ocicat, Serengeti,  Oriental Shorthair, Bengal, etc.  Servals are 25 to 40 lbs - they are a smaller wild cat.  The Asian Leopard Cat is the ancestor of the Bengal Cat - many Savannahs have Bengal Cat in their pedigrees.  The Serval is also called the  "poor mans cheetah".  The Serval is strikingly similar to a cheetah except for the ears and of course it  is smaller in size.

SAVANNAHS are the largest domestic feline available today.  They are not dangerous to have as pets.  SAVANNAHS get along great with other pets and a dog makes a great companion for a SAVANNAH.  Keep your Savannahs on a leash outside ALWAYS - they instictively may leave and never come back!

If you keep your Savannah in your backyard they need to have a large enclosed place with a top on it.  They love to have a "den" and those dog igloos work great.

ARE SAVANNAHS LEGAL IN YOUR STATE?
In Utah as long as T.I.C.A. or some other International Cat Association recognizes the breed as domestic it  is considered to be a domestic animal in Utah, so even though they say hybrids are not allowed - because T.I.C.A. says that a SAVANNAH is registerable as a domestic that makes it legal to have a SAVANNAH in Utah.  Wolf hybrids are also legal in Utah although in Sandy UT a Ferrett is illegal as it is considered to be a wild animal - city laws overide state laws.

WHAT DO I FEED MY SAVANNAH?
We feed raw.  Our daily regimine is  raw chicken cut into chunks mixed with Wildtrax supplement, we also add probiotics, garlic oil, echinacea, myrrh and salmon oil and mix together.  We feed twice a day and we feed no dry food.  See the article on our "About Us" page all about what to feed your cat!
