Our goal at SandHollow Savannahs is to create a dramatically beautiful Savannah. We are striving for extreme size, clear golden or tawny coat color, dramatic black spots, tall ears, ocelli (stripes) on ears, fox like muzzle and a long, lean, tall body.
The African Serval is the foundation for a new breed of domestic cat called a Savannah. Most Servals are bred with Egyptian Maus, Ocicats, Serengeties, Cheetohs, Bengals, etc, actually any domestic cat bred to a Serval is considered a Savannah.
We are breeding for families who want the most beautiful and wild exotic looking pet - a very friendly and domesticated child friendly companion . They use a litter box and need no special care. We specialize in F2 thru F7 generations.
The Savannah is the largest hybrid in existence, some F1's getting as big as 35 lbs. The Savannahs make wonderful pets, they are intelligent and are really more like a dog – they love to fetch and go for walks on a leash. Our Savannah kittens are raised in our home along with our children so they are very well socialized.
Most kittens start out looking like a normal size kitten and don’t show signs of longer-than-normal legs until about 9 weeks old. Most of the height of a Savannah will be achieved in the first year and they will put on more muscle in the second year. The size of a Savannah will depend somewhat on the generation, the largest Savannahs will be the one closest to the Serval (F1, F2 and F3). Our F4, F5, F6 and F7 will be a bit smaller but still taller and longer than a normal cat. There are always exceptions that are the same size as a domestic cat. They are not dangerous at all but the larger they are the bigger their claws and teeth are! Don't teach your Savannahs to play rough!
Below are some pictures of Servals - A high quality Savannah should have the same markings and similar look of a Serval. The striped markings on the back of the ears is called "ocelli". The ears are hard to duplicate in the later generations and that is what we are working on right now, to get great Serval ears on all of our kittens! - Our male studs, TITAN and KHAN are both descendants of "KEYSTONE" of Select Exotics - a gorgeous SERVAL.

Every Savannah looks different - just like people. They have the same basic look - spotted coat, tall big ears, long body and powerful hind legs - built like a Cheetah. But each one has a different face so there are many different looks of Savannahs depending on what Serval was used in their ancestry. There are only about 2000 Savannahs in the world today - they are exotic, beautiful and fun! A great pet for any family!
